The University of Birmingham is a leading research-led UK university. Birmingham will co-ordinate the project, lead WPs 3 and 4 and advise in WPs 1 and 2. The co-ordinator will be Professor Stuart Harrad, who has considerable expertise in a wide range of research aspects into the environmental fate and behaviour of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) with a particular focus on BFRs.

Dr. Berresheim will lead WPs 1 and 2 and assist Prof. Harrad with WPs 3 and 4. His expertise is in Atmospheric and Environmental Chemistry, including the fate of PCBs and cycling of heavy metals. He has been the leader of numerous multi-national field studies related to global and regional cycles of biogenic sulphur, nitrogen, and organic compounds.
